April 2020. Lockdown. Confronting ourselves. Contact with the outside world is mainly digital. Mike Pro is forced to engage with himself. A search between expectations and own interpretations. Dealing with silences. Awareness of one's own thinking. What is that, thinking? And to what extent is it determined by origin, upbringing and one's own choices?

Using all the tools of the internet, Mike Pro makes his way through the mystical branches of the world's religions. Instead of listening to what others say about spirituality, he searches for the reasons for his own existence in his YouTube laboratory.

Press

"A performance for the YouTube generation but equally good for readers of Paolo Coelho. A performance for culture houses but also for the street. Auditory stimulating, visually stunning, emotionally deepening and mentally stimulating for all." Jonas Slaats - Theologian, lecturer in philosophical subjects at KDG and author of 'Religion Revised'

"The Own Legend is a dazzling docushow about identity (and so much more) about and from someone who knows damn well what he's talking about. The way Mike Pro builds the story, puts media and himself on and in play - one word: impressive. A show everyone deserves to see." Michael De Cock - artistic director KVS

"A punishing performance about how you have to find a way in two worlds and how this sometimes produces hilarious but also difficult moments. Using 'Foute' -Good Shape- music, warm family films ut Morocco, issues between friends,.... Mike tells his quest for identity and religion that is recognisable to very many young people. A search for something to hold on to -which tended to drive him to extremes- and even resulted in his own punishing legend; with an appeal for understanding and dialogue. Above all, go and watch and enter the conversation! Dear Petit - OC NOVA coordinator

"What a performance! Mike gives his own answers to questions of our time. A master storyteller, filmmaker and musician, he guides you through his life and society. Child of 2 cultures, child of 2 religions. How do you find your own voice in this? A performance that raises questions, provokes discussions, makes you shudder. Thank you Mike!" Junior Mthombeni - theatre maker, actor and musician

"A quirky, topical and necessary performance." Gerardo Salinas - city dramaturge KVS

"Mike has found his unique theatrical form, grown from his vlogging, filming, rapping and never-stopping head. Wow. Tine De Pourcq - Mestizo Arts Platform
