Reading together is a bit like travelling together.
In meeting centre Het Oude Badhuis, we found an enthusiastic partner to start a third reading group in Antwerp North, this time around the story of Three Strong Women: a Japanese fairy tale by Judith Vindevogel, which forms the basis for our performance of the same name.
In 2017 and 2019, we delved into Danish author Carsten Jensen's book We, the Drowned, the inspiration behind our latest musical theatre project. Out of a desire to form a small but very diverse community leading up to this performance, we organised in 2017 and start 2019 two reading groups together around this exciting book.
Every Wednesday morning, we go on a little journey together. We read to each other from the book and go deeper into conversation about the many topics, which are rich in the story and ourselves. With the book as our guide, we immerse ourselves in the Dutch language.
A socio-artistic project for those who would like to learn better Dutch, for those who like conviviality and especially for those who are open to learning from each other. Because just like We, the Drowned this reading group is a ‘sailing Babel’ - where multilingualism is central.
