Welcome to the open studio of the new musical theatre performance by Lotte Boonstra
Eight (or maybe nine) universal truths about human nature
Eight (or maybe nine) universal truths about human nature is a collection of sculptural tableaux: hushed images in which people relate to matter.
The series of absurdist and humorous sculptures questions how man digs, delves and builds, stuck deeper and deeper in his own human world. Each sculpture is a metaphor, an abstraction of what it means to be human.
Eight (or maybe nine) universal truths about human nature has no set form. The images are performed in different compositions by a motley collection of people. An individual sound is composed for each sculpture. During her residency at RIF, Lotte will work with sound designer Timon Persoon on the compositions accompanying the sculptures. They are also exploring the role of live music within the performance.
The full collection of images will premiere on 13 May 2026 during Beyond the Black Box at Monty, Antwerp.
